Typed letter signed on Senate stationary to Bishop Hunt of The United Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In part, "This will acknowledge your letter of March 22, 1974, and enclosures, concerning inflation and a recommendation of a price rollback to the January 1973 level, which was adopted by the Administrative Board of Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church.
"...As you may know, I have consistently advocated that our government must balance its budget and eliminate deficit spending if we are to take effective steps to reduce inflation.
"There is no legislation currently pending to effect a price rollback, in fact, in Committee action on March 26th the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs voted to table -- effectively killing -- the Administration's proposed bill for a limited extension of wage and price controls, and a compromise bill.
"Unless some form of legislation is reconsidered by the Congress prior to April 30th, the Committee's action means that wage and price controls will lapse when the present authorizing law expires on that date."
Letter is in excellent condition. One staple at the top holding a copy of the original letter sent by Bishop Hunt speaking of the resolution and asking Sen. Ervin to support legislation adopting the resolution.
